The Bohemian Waxwing and Cedar Waxwing are similar in appearance but can be distinguished by the white crescent on the wing of the Bohemian Waxwing and the lack of this feature in the Cedar Waxwing. Both species have waxlike tips on their wings, but the Bohemian Waxwing's primary wing-stripe is brighter yellow. These differences are most noticeable in mature birds.

Look for the white crescent on the wing of the Bohemian Waxwing, which is absent in Cedar Waxwings. Check the brightness of the yellow primary wing-stripe; it is more pronounced in Bohemian Waxwings.
