Crane Hawk vs Common Black Hawk

The Crane Hawk and Common Black Hawk can be distinguished by their tail patterns and leg color. The Crane Hawk has a distinctive black-and-white banded tail and long, slender reddish legs, while the Common Black Hawk has a broad white tail band and yellow legs. Both species are associated with water but differ in habitat preferences.
