Knysna Turaco vs Purple-crested Turaco

The Knysna Turaco and Purple-crested Turaco can be distinguished by their crest and plumage. The Knysna Turaco has a rounded, white-tipped crest, while the Purple-crested Turaco features a striking purple crest. Both species inhabit similar forested environments but differ in vocalizations.

Both species occupy evergreen forests, but the Knysna Turaco is found from the southern Western Cape to northeastern South Africa and northwestern Eswatini.

The Knysna Turaco's advertisement call consists of more notes delivered at a faster pace compared to the Purple-crested Turaco.
